Words have power. What we say and how we say matters. The Word contains powerful words which enables us to overcome temptation. Just like today’s Holy Nougat
“Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the LORD your God.’ ””. Luke 4:12 NLT
Why does Jesus use that response to the devil? He cited scripture and through the scriptures, refuted arguments put before Him. Never in any of those three incidents is He seen to make His response without the Word. And, as the Living Word (or the Word become human), it is logical that Jesus would cite scripture in his argument.
But what of us, what value do we place on the Word; and do we know the Word intimately? By this I mean how do we apply God’s Word in our life? I met someone once who didn’t identify as Christian, but assured me that the Bible had been read cover to cover at least thrice! Reading the Word doesn’t guarantee understanding or intimacy with it.
For as important as the Word is, relationship with Jesus the Living Word. For, if the devil has no permission to test Jesus, then even when the tests try to come – and they shall – it is in Jesus we take refuge. For He has already overcome the devil on our behalf.
May your day be one of overcoming through the power of our Living Word.
