Nougat 18

Published on

Hello my dears,

I pray today’s Holy Nougat™ is just the right blend for us today.

This is my command: Love each other. John 15:17 NLT

What does loving another look like? Is it the Eros flutter that captivates the masses and creates blockbuster movies? The kind that is sung about and used as currency for abuse and misrepresents relationships? I don’t think that was what Jesus meant.

Rather, it is more in keeping with Agape, a nice uncomplicated friendship which does not make Facebook headlines. This Love does not delight in evil, but offers hope in trying times. It’s the willingness to put the other before one’s self (hurtful though it sometimes is) and to speak the truth when everyone else would rather pretend otherwise.

It’s the kind that’s Platonic, not charged with untoward behaviour, not puffed up with pride or envy. For it is Love that teaches us to bear the other’s burdens, and in Christ, provide a shoulder when necessary.

That we are commanded to love each other provides the clue that loving the other isn’t always easy! But it certainly is worth it.

Let’s work on loving the other as Christ has loved us; individually and collectively.
