Hi
The Bible is riddled with impossible situations. Today’s Holy Nougat is a reminder to us all that our God specializes in the impossibles which ‘a only God can fix’.
“What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month.” Luke 1:36 NLT
This was the impossibility which overrides quite a few. Wife of the priest, but barren. We don’t know how many, if any miscarriages were contained in the barrenness; but we know that there were enough to dash the hopes of the committed priest. In a society where a fertile womb was proof of womanhood, the priest’s wife was infertile.
How many babies must she have helped prepare for the blessings! How many times folks said, ‘You next!’ or; ‘When are you bringing a child for us to play with?’ or some such sentiment! How many tears must have washed her pillow from her broken dreams!
Yet Elizabeth never fully lost hope
More critically, God never forgot their heart’s desire.
It may not be a child, but so many other dreams may have been miscarried; to the point where we lose all hope. Perhaps even our faith! And for some of us the dream literally died. May never be resuscitated again. And we have got to the place of resignation. Maybe rightfully so.
It could be however, that our God has one last, one more barren situation to bring to life for us. One more ‘a only God can fix’ situation. Whether we trust or not. ‘Cause sometimes, someone else has gotta prop up our faith. And sometimes our miracle is the proof for someone else’s unbelief! May God manifest a miracle in our lives once again today.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
