What would cause Christ’s daily trip out of the city during the week of his arrest? I believe that Jesus’ departure from the city afforded him critical connection time with The Almighty. And this was key to his being able to complete his mission of salvation for EVERYONE who believes in him.
It’s also a salient reminder to each of us that especially when we are faced with life and death situations, we MUST separate ourselves from the immediate and urgent to seek guidance, grace and strength from The One who is able to keep us, succour us and take us through.
The fact of Jesus’ singular journey from the city is really worth noting especially since he is crucified that week.
Where do you turn in moments of crisis?
Guide me Lord, that your presence protects me in times of need.
