Hi

One of the highlights of last year for many persons, was witnessing the very tangible joy of Miss Nigeria on behalf of her friend; the new Miss World. Beauty pageants aside, her reaction is a reminder that we can be our best selves at any given time. On that note, here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“When Baal-Hanan son of Acbor died, Hadad became king. He was from the city of Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.” Genesis‬ ‭36:39‬ ‭NCV

Mehetabel – God makes happy, favoured of God

She is mentioned twice. No one seems to know about her …

Except that she was from a line which was associated with wealth and fertility (if we research their names). And since the lineage names are recognized Hebrew names; one may assume that they were Hebrew.

Except that her husband is the last named king of Edom.

We know nothing more about her. True, she might have been wealthy. She might have been Hebrew. And she was married to the last king of Edom. Interestingly, her husband is Hadad of Palestine. We don’t know whether she was a good person or if her husband consulted her.

But the favor of God was hers. Ultimately, that’s what matters.

You see, while others might overlook us, or even miss our worth; let us remember that in God’s sight, we are precious and favored, even when we are NOT married to a prince. What we ought to do then, is shine where we are. Just like Miss Nigeria at the recent Miss World pageant, who was elated for her friend to have won the Miss World title. Exactly as God has called us to be.

Are you shining as yet?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
