Nougat 17

Today’s Holy Nougat offers a foolproof method to outride the storms of life.

“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s with us in the struggle. It may feel otherwise, but God is most definitely with us. For we have this blessed assurance that God is already at the end of the struggle, waiting to celebrate our victory with us. And, then again, who’s ever heard of victory without a test? So, we stand and withstand throughout.

Like every responsible parent, God goes a step further by providing the necessary resources to carry us through. We are offered God’s grace – the all round, all terrain tool/weapon to face the known or the unknown. Grace, ie ‘charis’, refers to favor, blessings, or kindness. So if we know that we are walking in favor with God, especially during our crises, we know that it is well.

I know firsthand that it is not always easy to see God’s grace and it’s hard to sing or persevere during the struggle, but I can also attest to the transformative nature of recognizing God’s grace is mine. Horatio Spafford penned ‘It is well with my Soul’ during the roughest season of his life. He experienced God’s grace and it provided him with strength for the journey. His praises kept pouring forth in gratitude for God’s favor.

Siblings, I believe that we might have stopped counting our blessings great and small, that we’ve bought the lie about bragging. Let’s boast about God’s grace especially when things feel hopeless, for our own spirit’s sake as well as the onlooker. Perhaps we sing alongside Horatio, ‘It is well with my soul!’
