Nougat 17

Perspective is very unique thing. Far often we find just a little bit ‘off’ from others. We might even find inclined to shift focus so we’re aligned to the consensus. And while that’s not The ‘Yes, But’ of our focus – I suggest; Yes, But. Yes. Accept that our perspective is not fully aligned with the crowd; But only shift focus if it’s not aligned to God’s plan for us.

Now back to today’s Holy Nougat.

“Then they gave their report: “We entered the land to which you sent us. It’s actually full of milk and honey, and this is its fruit. There are, however, powerful people who live in the land. The cities have huge fortifications. And we even saw the descendants of the Anakites there.” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭13‬:‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭CEB‬‬

Yes, BUT

See, those 10 saw the same bountiful land as the other 2. And they agreed, ‘Yes those two are right. The land is amazingly fertile.

BUT…

And the naysaying began

Those ten shifted gears so fast, Fear filled the room and brought Anarchy alongside to strengthen the cause for the Enemy of our Souls. Can you feel the mood shift in the room? – they’d been walking for forty years. Like 4 decades! Finally they stopped going in circles, and discovered that they were at the entrance to their destination. The two sent on surveillance

have returned and brought samples. Though they haven’t spoken – everyone starts thinking of where their dream house will be located, close to the grapes, the pomegranates, the cattle or the bees. $- income and entrepreneurship plans are on the horizon.

‘No more manna’ says one

‘Yuh notice they never mentioned quail’ says another

‘I can’t wait for my new house’

and so it went on

Then

‘What they say is true

But

We have to fight people double our size!’

All dreams died

-Here we go; back to manna again

-Steups Yuh mean we spend our entire life walking for this! To die disgraced in the wilderness!

-Why did we leave Egypt? We can’t even go back now.

– Long time I know you can’t trust that family enuh. From The Father n The Mother down to the children. It’s a plot with Pharaoh to get rid of us. Well, we gonna show you today

– It’s a bait and switch. They get us to feel good about the place and then kill us off. Not going to happen. Cause I ain’t fighting a soul for their land!

Meanwhile, with the calamitous clatter and chatter, God is forgotten, God’s opinion is not sought. Some people were even ready to curse God and die. What little faith they had was shriveled up because of a Yes BUT.

All the past blessings – Forgotten.

All the past victories – Forgotten.

All God’s past blessings – Forgotten

We are sometimes guilty of allowing one ‘giant’ sway us from God’s purpose. All the ‘Yes Lord to Your will and to Your way’ morphs into ‘But, do you really want me to …’ when God’s way includes a step of Faith! And sometimes we grumble just as loudly as those Children of Israel!

Yet, if we stopped long enough to allow God’s Spirit to intervene, we would overcome Fear, Frustration and Anarchy. For where God’s Spirit is, Freedom from Fear, Frustration and Phobias also is present; removing the need for Anarchy and Mistrust.

It’s time to leave ‘Yes, But’ behind and embrace God’s ‘Yes, And’.
