We watch our words and attitudes, pray in the Spirit and await Jesus’ intervention … to what end? Today’s Holy Nougat
offers insight.
“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.” Jude 1:20-21 NLT
Jesus, Our Key to Eternity
He, Who had never sinned, became our scapegoat and sacrifice so that in our belief, we become righteous in God’s sight and qualify for eternity with God.(see 2 Corinthians 5:21). It is this act of restorative justice that gives us Hope and insists we respond to Jesus’ offer of Grace. I know we’ve discussed it some time ago, but it truly is worth reflecting on once more.
Leviticus 16:8-10 or thereabouts reveals that every year the Jews sent a goat to the edge of a cliff outside the city limits. The goat, laden with the sins of all the people became a sacrifice to appease the accuser, who called for the penalty to be exacted on us. Becoming our scapegoat was the first step. Jesus also released Believers from Hades, conquered Death, then ascended to Heaven as His earthly mission was complete. Siblings in Christ: This Is Why We Trust Jesus – to secure our space in Heaven.
Jesus is not only our scapegoat and salvation, He is also our Defender. For even now when we mess up which we do quite frequently, Jesus I is petitioning God so that our sins don’t restart the sentence. That’s grace and mercy rolled into One. It’s guaranteed: if we desire God’s grace to live eternally, Jesus is the One through Whom all deals are brokered. And we have the ‘Insider Track’. Does that incentivize us to use our words to encourage others?
