Blessed Fathers Day to all those who have fathered … biologically or in love

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.” Isaiah 40:11 NLT

In my native context, there are many who have contributed to the birth of children, yet have failed to father in any substantive way. While some of this is the result of enslavement, there is need for us to break free of those spiritual shackles and inculcate fresh models of parenting. And what better source than that found in Scripture?

Although a flock is not the typical metaphor for a family, there is something about the imagery of The Good Shepherd which is apt for Fathers Day. Perhaps it is the gentleness, the care, the provision and the love which are all encompassed above. Can you just see it? A father who is present and actively involved in the life of his children?

I believe that modeling the attributes of Christ makes for excellent fatherhood. For those who have been emulating Him (intentional or not); hats off to you. May your efforts yield confident, emotionally balanced and spiritually strong offspring! If you were challenged by today’s Nougat, take heart – it might not be too late to change course. Maybe you can indulge in a do-over with either your grand/children or, with God’s help, provide mentorship for a child in need.

Thanking God for God being Father to many who have not experienced the care of an earthly Father!

(Happy Father’s Day dear Lord!!!) In Christ’s love and grace . . .
