Happy Sunday to you. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. ”” 2 Corinthians 6:18 NLT
Isn’t it awesome to be heirs to God’s vast resources? To be claimed, recognized, accepted WITHIN the Household of God, regardless of what the world would say. Of course, in the culture where I was socialized, belongingness carried its own responsibilities.
Some family groups have had to figh to maintain the status accorded to them, both literally and figuratively. And not all family members conform. Unfortunately, nonconformism is not always a point of celebration! Oh yes! I can still remember some expectations placed on me for being my parents’ child (I also recall attempts at rebellion – not worth it).
While many of us find it hard to reintegrate in our families after being separated, us being grafted into God’s family can be different. Granted, there are expectations for us in God’s family; but when we mess up, Jesus invites us back into the family time and time again. Amazing!
And for any of us who are feeling excluded, today we are reminded that God loves us despite our imperfections. Feel free to cry out for grace and mercy (siblings to God’s forgiveness) which restores us in the family with immediate effect. Cheers!
