” … Do you think that mere words are strategy and power For war? On whom do you now rely, that you have rebelled against me?” Is 36:5

At first, I didn’t understand why I got this verse for reflection, but then it registered that that lofty speech was not attributed to God. No, it was from Hezekiah’s political enemy. Ranting about God and dissing God’s authority. Now them is fighting words.

Who is the enemy to tell me that I have rebelled against him? And yet, that’s exactly how the devil responds once a child of God returns to the fold.

So my defense; like Hezekiah, I place my circumstances (the accusation of my enemy) before my righteous judge. I invite my judge to vindicate me, for this is NOT the kind of battle I fight on my own. I remind my judge that it is my judge’s reputation which is really under trial. I invite my judge to intervene. I try to stay out, but for prayer. (Not always doable, but I occasionally succeed) I give glory when the battle is done.

O Lord, your children are hounded, mocked, persecuted

For the Faith they do not seek to trade. We stand in the gap, contesting the trap of enemy, occasional frenemy, often called in the garb of friend till in the end their truth is revealed. But thank you dear God, you are THE Truth who sets us free. To see, to be, to fall free with no restraints despite the taint of the enemy in our space. You bring release Lord, you assure victory. Amen
