Are we known for our giving? If soZ, why? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
““Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.” Matthew 6:1-2 NLT
So the key point to consider is God’s expectation that we share our resources with others in need. The sticking point came from the matter of public giving. It’s our motives. (like checks handed out in public, as proof of generosity). Jesus asks that it is less public.
But notice that the segment is very clear about giving. It’s not ‘if’ you give, it is ‘when’. My question for us goes ‘To whom are we giving?’ It may be an institution or individual gifts. That’s our choice, well – our decision. But note, there’s a reward connection. That is the reward bit in the nougat. So giving to those in need is an investment in our spiritual and maternal accounts.
As we invest in our future today, may we also remember to invest in others.
