Lock di door! Keep out the devil. Lock the door; juck di devil in di eye! Lock do door; keep out the devil! Light the candle everything is alright! (Nicqi version)

Hello howdy do

Today’s Holy Nougat simply brought forth the song on me …

“So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons; they brought the vessels to her, and she poured out.” 2 Kings 4:5 ASV

So she got very specific instructions. “Borrow all the pots you can. Close the door. Pour oil from your container until every last pot was filled.” Fairly straightforward right? Unless you felt like sharing your thoughts with someone.

And that’s why we lock the door. Lest the devil gets let in!

You see my dears; sometimes – it always but sometimes – there is the temptation to share (or even brag a little) information about our blessings after a period of drought. But! Not everyone is interested in seeing or hearing about our breakthrough or blessings. And that’s the truth. It’s not every person who ought to be granted access to our lives. Some folks are toxic to our breakthrough and we ought to keep them away from our business.

We can further surmise that perhaps locking the door lessens the distractions. For we may find that distraction places the focus on the wrong things; wrong persons. So rather than getting that miraculous oil flow; the widow might have been sidetracked by the order of the pots used, ensuring that nothin happened to the borrowed pots. She was resolute. No distractions! Just obedience!

What if we received those directives. Would Pride create the first distraction? Could we truly go obeying EXACTLY as instructed by the Lord? Even when it doesn’t ‘make sense’? And are we able to zero in on what God calls us to do and be by locking the door? No procrastinating at all. Whatsoever.

Not easy my dears; but totally worth it.

I pray that we move with alacrity when so led by God’s Spirit.

Blessings and peace

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
