Nougat 16

Published on

My dear,

Have you ever gotten instructions, followed it to the letter, and things went awry? And then you realize that there was one little detail you overlooked? Today’s Holy Nougat is about Abram’s one little detail.

“So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.” Genesis 12:4 NLT

It may have been a family call originally; but by the time Abram received God’s call for himself (Genesis 12:1-2), it was personal. Sometimes, what we are called to or for, requires discretion and individual action.

The directive given in verse 1 indicated a clean break – from home country, from fathers kin, from other relatives to go where God was sending him. Since he only had Sarai as his own family at the time, the invitation extended to her. So where is Lot in the plan?

True, we are told that Lot went with him (and not that he took Lot with); but in later chapters we see that Abram’s journey might have been different had he stepped out on his own.

Is that why he received an unspecified location as his destination?

When God speaks to us, or with us; can we be trusted to obey as instructed and not include others in the plans? For, not everyone has the same vision from God or similar passion; even if we seem to be headed in the same direction.

It is natural to desire accompaniment for our travels and exploits for God. However, obedience is better than sacrifice.

What is the Lord calling you to do today; and with whom?

Seek God’s expanded direction, for clarification and accompaniment from the ‘wrong’ person may derail or delay the blessings that accompany obedience to the task.

Praying us each wisdom, blessings and encouragement for our journeys with God! Good morning

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
