Nougat 16

Hi

For those of you familiar with Caribbean cuisine, are you familiar with rum cake? That is fruit cake with rum and wine to keep it moist and rich? Blissful! A few days ago I prepared two batches, regular and gluten free. I can’t speak for the regular one, but if mine was anything to go by … Earlier this week, I had the wonderful idea of warning the rum cake, then adding vanilla ice cream on the side. Hmmm hmm great! Before I was fully done indulging, my body reminded me why overeating was not wise. I paid. Big time.

Let’s savor that picture of the ice cream cake combo as we seek to imbibe on today’s Holy Nougat™

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. Galatians 5:16 NLT

You see my dears, just because something is irresistible, it is not necessarily good for us. Inasmuch as the fruit cake and ice cream was decadent, my body retaliated. So it is with sin. It may appear just right for us, exciting and appealing, but in the spiritual realm, what “glitters” hardly ever is what the Lord desires for our lives.

But there is the Holy Spirit.

The very breath of God.

As God’s Breath, the Holy Spirit offers us life when death and decay would i seek to overwhelm us.

Our Advocate.

The One who represents us before God’s throne, when the enemy of our soul speaks condemnation.

Our Comforter.

Providing protection and relief whenever our old nature seeks to go against the Will and Purpose of God.

Walking with God’s Spirit affords us the power to resist the Devil. Yielding to the Spirit’s plan guarantees that it will be well when the battle is over.

Let us choose Life today.

In Christ
