Jamaican balladeer Cynthia Schloss once sang a classic piece entitled, “You look like love”. Ever so often I wonder about the song’s origins – to whom it was dedicated and on what occasion. And whenever I consider today’s Holy Nougat, I’m convinced I have my answers:
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”” Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
God gets excited about me! God gets excited about you! That’s awesome. Can you imagine God bursting into song at both the sight and thought of us? That’s some kind of special. To see us beyond our wayward selves and burst in song. To see our insecurities and declare us good and bless us. To see the wonder of us, our good and awesome bits, and be filled with love for us!
This God is a keeper!
Moreover, I suspect that one possible subject of the song is God. And with God reflected in us masterpieces (that’s each of us for better or worse); we can actually see glimpses of God and God’s love all around.
Let’s each resolve to respond to this amazing Love by loving ourselves and the reflection of God in each other; inasmuch as we reflect the love towards God.
