So
Now that we’ve completed our reflections on Psalm 23, what was the biggest takeaway for you? One of mine was the realization that I am not even a quarter of the way towards becoming a shepherd of the caliber of the Good Shepherd. Not even close. Despite my best intentions, I mess up. And then I get fixated on the mistakes etc. But here’s the antidote to my concerns in today’s Holy Nougat
“But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.” Psalms 130:4 NLT
Because it’s not that we don’t sin – we ALL do (see for yourself in Romans 3:23). However, having created us, God knows us intimately, inside out even. And while sin offends our God, grace is one of God’s major attributes. This grace forgives us long before we confess , or ask forgiveness. It doesn’t hold grudges. That’s why we can approach God without fear of immediate retribution.
That is not to say we should willfully disobey God’s will(although we do actually do that from time to time). However, we know that between the rod, staff and oil; God shall get us back on track when we confess.
Rather than embarking on a hunt for others’ sins; let us quietly approach the throne of God’s grace knowing that forgiveness is assured this side of eternity.
