Hello my dears
My apologies to the folk on the Facebook page, the link worked elsewhere (it might be copyright infringement). Feedback from yesterday indicated a desire to hear more about El Elyon… I trust others are like-minded.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, Genesis 14.22
El Elyon, the Most High God, is reflective of God’s stature. The term locates God politically as God’s awesomeness and majesty is revealed as the superlative of all powers and rulers.
When Abram speaks to the king of Sodom after his encounter with Melchizidech, (king of Salem, priest of El Elyon), he boldly declares his allegiance to one who is far above and beyond earthly rulers. He further acknowledges that all his wealth is from God Most High (to whom he holds himself accountable) and no other, insisting that Sodom’s king keep the spoils from battle (v. 23)
How do you experience God, and is there a name that stands above the others?
Where does our allegiance lie in the aftermath of American elections, BrExit, hurricanes, terrorist attacks and even personal tragedy? When ones in authority seek to draw us into payola, how do we respond?
May El Elyon, God Most High, be evident in all our lives, today and always.
Thank you for making time for God’s word today and always.
In Christ
