Hello
I went to bed nursing a bit of a headache and awakened feeling even more tired than I went to bed. Interesting. But the headache is gone; so I say hallelujah.
We continue our reflection on yesterday’s nougat.
And (Jesus) said to them, “When you pray, say;
Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come” Luke 11.2
Knowing we are chosen by God is one of those elements of the relationship.which God really needs us to grasp. This theme emerged in the creation story of Genesis 1-2, seemed to be reserved for individuals, the Jews and it’s then reiterated in the epistles and John’s gospel.
2. When we accept God as one who opts to be parent, we recognize that despite our sin nature God makes us partakers of any/all promises made to other children. Those are really too many to mention, but I challenge us to be in search of … especially when they are promises made to the children of the promise.
One of the best aspects of that comes from the knowledge that God keeps promises and only wants the best for us. The best is not always immediately visible, but we know that we can run to the One who makes everything good (in due season) for the called.
So when we pray to our Father, we anticipate that even with a negative response, God is working things in our favor.
3. As God’s children, we reflect God-ness in us. Again, this is rooted in the Genesis Creation story, which assets that unlike the rest of creation which was spoken into being, God created us in God’s likeness. Can you accept that God’s DNA is in your makeup? (And no I won’t digress into the God- particle in the shape of a cross at the core of our DNA. Go look it up for yourself)
Moreso, what does that mean when you approach God in prayer? Not only does it mean I am God’s, but it also reminds me that I have the ability to know God’s heart. O yes indeedy.
Some of it grew over time, but I instinctively knew how my parent would respond to certain things and what pleased their hearts. With God, it’s the still small voice, the gentle whispers, the confirmation/directive from an attuned spiritual sister or brother, or God’s Word living in Us which reveals God’s heart.
So, when you pray today to Father God, what shall inform your approach? How boldly shall we approach the throne of grace?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
