Nougat 15

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

It’s loveliness increases; it will never.

Pass into nothingness; but still will keep

A bower quiet for us, and a sleep

Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing …”

– John Keats ‘Endymion’ 1818

Those were the days of sweet lyrics! It kinda has one desiring to be the thing of beauty described by Keats. According to literary critics, Keats was subtly countering the view that beauty is dependent on good morals; by arguing that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, should one wish to see. These words have inspired several others to write their own artistic pieces; but for me, I wonder whether Keats had not been inspired by today’s Holy Nougat

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Right there at God’s throne, says John, are winged beings who constantly declare that God is worthy of all worship; because God is the One Who designed all of Creation; and solely for God’s pleasure. We are created to please God! Actually we are the completion of God’s ‘good’ workmanship; crafted, blessed AND declared good from the onset (Genesis 1:26-31). So yes, in God’s sight we have been crafted to be ‘a thing of beauty’.

The challenge is that evil exists and part of its purpose is to distort our true worth (and by virtue thereof, the truth of each of us) in God’s eyes. When we lose sight of the Truth, we then go searching for our value in ALL the wrong things and places and people; having failed to see ourselves in the words, ‘ … and God saw everything God had made and behold it was VERY GOOD.’

That was God’s verdict at the end of the Creation process; whether we interpret that as seven days, seven million years or seven epochs. All created things gave God pleasure; including you and me.

So how do we get back to that physical and mental state? We MUST tap into the spiritual, to the understanding that that which Sin (evil) distorted can be restored to the former glory through Y’shua, the Christ. Or, as Paul states, … we are God’s masterpiece … created anew IN Christ Y’shua FOR Good Works that God has already prepared for each of us! (Ephesians 2:10)

Yes! We are natural beauties! Regardless of what the world says. And when we live that reality; when we walk in the consciousness of who we truly are – I guarantee; our loveliness SHALL increase and prepare us for transitioning forever; away from Nothingness; into Life Eternal!

God has blessed us; let’s walk in confidence of our goodness (beauty)!
