Nougat 15

Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“since you are also joining to help us when you pray for us. Then many people will thank God for the favor he will show us because many people prayed for us.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:11‬ ‭GW‬‬

The act was simple.

She sent a note to the pastor to advise that she was praying for the pastor that week. She told the pastor that she was keeping the pastor in mind along with the prayer.

A simple act. A profound gift.

I have prayed spontaneously for people several times. I have intentionally prayed for people as led by God’s Spirit; but never have I prepared a roster to pray for different people weekly. On hearing about this practice, I thought of the nougat and of you all.

How could we transform our world if we prayed for leaders we know on a scheduled basis? Not a hit or miss; not only the impromptu moments (that are also essential); but opting to create weekly or monthly rosters to pray for religious and other leaders.

Of course, my brain went further – suppose each of us opted to pray like that for people we know. For, whether we are open to saying so, most of us would welcome the idea that we are being prayed for. Especially when we are dis- eased. Whether by sickness, work, family issues, finances, emotional or other distress, a Spirit-led prayer can transform a life. The people who we pray for may have needed a reminder of God’s mercy and favor – just like Paul.

Even more so when life is ‘good’. We sometimes need prayer then to keep our hearts attuned to Christ, as comfort can be distracting. And those targeted, Spirit-led prayers will offer strength for the journeys we take.

Might we be led to establish a prayer roster today and also advise those whom we pray for that we are praying for them. If we’re already doing so, God bless you and keep those prayers going; many are the lives that are saved.
