Have you been noting a lull in your relationship with Christ? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“Therefore tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Zechariah 1:3 NIV
There’s a painful Jamaican saying, ‘nearer to church, and further from God’; which aptly describes the spiritual state of many Christians today. For, despite our apparent godliness, we have lost our First Love. It might have begun subtly – one ‘small’ sin unconfessed; one moment of faith denied; or even one moment of failing to keep our focus on Christ. And, with the absence of a visible spiritual catastrophe, other little things creep up, widening the gap until we’re all but estranged, even though we still bear the name.
This invitation to returning intimacy is set against the backdrop of one NOT YET choosing to restore intimacy. But God is passionately calling; offering one more chance to be in right relationship. Have we checked our lives? What is the true state of affairs between each of us and our God? (Perhaps even more critically, Who/What is the primary subject of our worship (where we channel the majority of our time, talent and treasure) ?) For, when we answer honestly; we are able to respond to God’s invite.
It’s not too late; let’s make our calling and election sure. What is our response?
