Hello

How are you?

Recently, I was praising my way through The Valley of Shadows when things started to look positive again. Lo and behold, just when I started to exhale, just when I felt ready to move past the exhaustion; a teeny tiny wrinkle appeared in the fabric of my rest. I almost lost it – what ‘it’ was; I’m not sure. But I felt ready to combust – except there was no one at fault for the wrinkle. I embraced a moment of frustration; recognized its improfitability and found my song. What if I’d started there? Hmmmn

Something for me to chew on with today’s Holy Nougat

“Now therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.”

Haggai 1:5 ASV

The children of Israel (in Judah) were having a season. No matter what they did; it seemed unprofitable. And right there; amid the ‘drought’; God raised up a prophet to help them see what was wrong. They had lost their praise (v2), to the extent that giving unto God the glory due unto God’s name was no longer a priority. But that was the root of their problems.

From time to time there is need for us to take stock of life in general. And sometimes, when things are not moving as they ought, we find that we have lost our praise. We place our faith in the created instead of The Creator. We offer lip service to God (in public), while failing to maintain the real relationship we ought to have.

It begins with little things, a wrinkle. But if left unchecked … whoa!

Could our God be inviting us today to take stock of our own lives?
