Hello
How are you doing? I think I am a bit tired from walking yesterday. But before you ask about that; here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 NLT
Yesterday I am confident that I walked a marathon. Okay, maybe a half-marathon. It was SO not intentional.
The entire Swiss Confédération had the feminist strike, for time, salaries and respect, and every canton (state) was on board. Some had the day, others the afternoon. But we all gathered in our numbers and colors and marched.
My plan, especially with a bad knee, was to walk to the park and await their return. Wasn’t how it happened. Instead, I was actually with the frontline folks, swallowed up in the 20,000+ throng, and propelled along. No one stopped in the park. And honestly, I didn’t feel tired THEN.
I had my two hiking sticks, water and my own support team. We were having fun. Next thing I know we were between the police who led the way and the frontliners. (Not to worry; European strikes are orderly events, planned with the police) This wasn’t an issue, but it made me even more inclined to finish that segment of the march. I did.
And I was so exhilarated!!!!!
Here’s what struck me –
A) With my knees; I shouldn’t have been on the march.
Supported by my walking sticks, I opted to press forward
C) With the crowd around us, marching was way easy
D) The police vehicles ensured we knew where we were going
And the similarities with our faith walk are also present
1) With our sin handicap; we shouldn’t be allowed to seek God’s higher calling
2) Supported (redeemed) by the Blood of Jesus, we press forward nevertheless
3) We are surrounded by a crowd who are urging us on. When we journey with others, our spiritual walk can be easier
4) God has sent angels before us to direct our path; and by God’s Spirit, we can run with precision God’s Purpose which is individually marked for us.
Sometimes we strip ourselves of the weights and sin (including folks we used to hang with); other times, we bolster ourselves with support which reduces the desire for the old weights.
Ready to press?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
