How has this Holy Week been? I trust it is proving to be educational and spiritually nourishing.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Revelation 12:11 NLT
Many of us are somewhat familiar with the first part of this verse; but how many of us are familiar with the second part .. not being afraid to die.
If death has been defeated by the Lamb, in particular by the blood; then it should not be unreasonable for us to defy death. The catch is, while in principle we know and believe that death has been conquered; it isn’t always easy to accept. In our faith, no one wants to die. Actually, life is the preferred option. During this season when the Lamb’s death is foremost on our minds, perhaps we might consider an alternate view on death. For, the Lamb died because he defended his beliefs – that we were worth the sacrifice.
Is there anyone with your sacrifice; for whom you’d be willing to die so that they might experience God’s great news in Jesus Christ? What would you sacrifice for the gospel’s sake? How would you ensure that others know about Christ’s sacrifice?
For God’s glory through Christ’s shed blood …
