Hi
Sometimes the Word of God challenges us in its integrity eh. And in those moments – here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
How I delight in your commands! How I love them! I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees. Psalms 119:47-48 NLT
Sometimes Psalm 119 is our nemesis. At least once. For there I am, ready to get my praise on when I’m reminded of my hypocrisy – do I truly honor and love God’s commands? And before you answer for me, let’s factor in the many times I/you/we flagrantly disobeyed God to do something else. And often it’s the little big things. You know, judge not lest you be judged; honor God above all else (until life gets in the way, I get fearful and begin to doubt or try take the reins of my life completely), you know the routine. And I hear my sins speaking out and proving me a sinner and a liar.
But then, the Other Voice reminds me that loving God’s Word and God’s commands is just that. A statement of my reality, if only for this moment. For if David penned these words originally, he sinned a couple of times and these words are NOT invalidated by his sin. And, we’re encouraged to speak into being the things which are not, as though they are. In that case, I’m speaking the total honoring of God’s Word as a living breathing natural aspect of my/our reality. And, by the Grace of God, it is.
In that case, I/you/we are not liars and hypocrites. Not when we’re children of God, called by the diminutive of Christ’s name. Nope.
BUT, with Grace comes consciousness. Recognition of the awesomeness of God’s forgiveness. And with consciousness, ought to come repentance. And with repentance comes Truth – which manumits us from sin, hypocrisy and death. [Consciousness comes before because it stirs us into action]. This is a cyclical event, not a once for all time occasion, for the road is long enough for most of us.
So, can we truly say we delight in God’s commends, love them, honor them; I believe we can.
Forgive us Lord for those times … Amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
