Hello
I live in one of the world’s wealthiest and most beautiful countries; yet suicide is rampant here. Could it be that folks are feeling too alone despite… What then are we called to do? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” Philippians 2:4 NLT
It is so easy, probably way too easy to get caught up in our own issues. Something happens, we weigh the options and determine that the opportunity cost of getting involved is too high for an issue that is not our priority or concern. Plus, nobody likes an informer/whistle blower. Those folks ought to mind their own business.
The truth is, few battles fought alone were won in that manner (okay, I don’t have facts to support this; so it’s not quite factual). David, mighty warrior that he was; had Thirty mighty men. The Allies won WWII (World War 2) through the power of numbers. And most modern day skirmishes are won by virtue of good legal assistance; not self-representation. So many around us are going through serious issues. And many need support if we are to overcome.
If we follow appearances, we may be misled. Abuse doesn’t always show in the visible places. Poverty isn’t always about finances. Depression sometimes wears designer labels. Prejudice isn’t always impolite. But, if we are attuned to God’s Spirit and to what’s happening beyond our lives, we may be the blessing someone needs in their own situation. Just by extending our selves a bit.
I pray today that we are willing (even amidst our own issues) to be our sibling’s keeper.
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
