Greetings
How do we respond when God asks more of us than we are prepared to sacrifice?
Herts today’s nougat
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them households. Exodus 1:21
The pharaoh was washing war through genocide. And he insisted that these midwives become his agents of death. They were quick, and risked their lives to save the Hebrew males.
It could have ended differently, especially since the pharaoh’s next move involved drowning the new born boys. He would have punished them for their treachery. But God.
These two women thwarted pharaoh in respect of their religious beliefs. How would we respond? Can I take a ranches on the answer?
But their action was not overlooked by God. Not in the least. Neither are ours. And our God really wants to reward our integrity and faith. It may not be as exciting as staving off genocidal acts (in Rwanda or Burundi) or out smarting the powers of the day, but in God’s eyes, it counts for much.
Could that almost impossible ethical decision have a result which pleases God? Could speaking out or living or faith make the difference in someone’s life?
Maybe it’s time to just live faith.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
