“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” ‭‭James‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sincerity is about genuineness. There’s nothing false to it. Even when caught in positions where comments are expected to reflect the status quo; Wisdom follows God’s dictates; whether good or bad. Now that isn’t always easy. Godly Wisdom, like Prophecy, can land the one who dispenses it in serious hot water. We therefore have to count the cost.

Because Wisdom is also Gentle, Peace Loving and the fruit of Good Deeds, one can tell that is more than merely guileless as it desires God’s best for all involved. That’s also Sincerity. And, on rare occasions, the dispenser of such Wisdom may be affirmed for their integrity.

Let’s not forget, while Wisdom is rooted in God (Jesus), the dispenser of Wisdom is subject to public scrutiny. And should one be found ‘Wanting’, it’s not uncommon for the proffered advice to be overlooked. As God’s ‘mouthpieces’, we are doubly obliged to maintain our integrity.

Whether we are seeking or dispensing Godly Wisdom, it is important that we understand its characteristics. In so doing we’re less likely to be deceived or become deceivers. I pray God’s blessings as we ponder the times in which we live.
