Nougat 14

If, ‘As a (hu)man thinketh, so is he’; then how often are you transformed and into what? Can you imagine the world if we all literally changed with our thoughts? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The above mentioned traits constitute what I am choosing to call the ‘Divine Mindset’, for they all remind me of God’s characteristics: True/Truth, Pure (Holy), Just, Love, Exemplar (Admirable), Praise-worthy and Excellent. My pastor refers to them as the ‘mind of Christ’, so I’m not alone in my theory.

What then would we look like if we think on those traits mentioned above?

I would say that we begin to look more and more like who we are originally created to be – the image of God. We may recall that Genesis 1:26-28 affirms that at the beginning of time, God chose to craft humans in God’s own ‘form’ (masculine) and ‘resemblance’ (feminine); suggesting that there’s a part of our core self that carries God’s unique gene stamp. We all do. I propose that it’s spiritual, frequently reflected in our thought-life.

Although we carry God’s gene stamp; human choices over the ages and in our time have rendered it a recessive gene. If we become what we think, then it’s fair to expect that as these traits become more dominant in our minds; we ‘look’ more and more like who God has created us to be.

So we come full circle – and the question remains; what does our thought life say we look like? Perhaps just as critical is this question – what do we need to have fixed?
