Hey

Have you ever been guilty of spiritual arrogance? Don’t know for sure? Check today’s Holy Nougat and see whether you have. For expansion on the concept, consider also the reflection

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 ASV

So often we act as though we are more knowledgeable than God. Granted, we might not actually voice it, but our actions just might speak volumes! We pray, claim to give our issues over, and then we begin to address the issue on our own.

Or we actually question God’s wisdom in acting a particular way, despite being armed with less than all the facts! Just like that. Probably if we were to think about God’s credentials, we might have a moment’s pause;

Consider Creation. Before placing us humans here, everything else we needed was already in place. We came after. And that applies even if you prefer to take a Darwinian approach to God’s creative process.

Consider the Flood; Noah’s faith was stretched, having never experienced rain! Yet the vessel made to God’s specifications proved just right.

And what about the offer of a way out when we are tempted? Proof that God is conscious of our potential for sin even before we yield.

Armed with that knowledge, God’s all-encompassing love is revealed through the Ultimate Way Out – Jesus Christ. Jesus’ Love surpasses all our understanding. Why should God become human, become Public Enemy #1, infuriate Caesar, become an offense to God’s specially chosen people the Jews, be a fresh curse by the act of crucufixion, be revealed to two ‘reprobate minds‘ while on the Cross as the Son of God; just so you and I could have a chance at abundant life? That’s not quite our ways or thought eh!

Thanks be to God, whose mind is far more powerful, precious and pure than mine! In Christ’s love and grace . . .
