And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Exodus 33:9, 11 KJV
What a joy that must have been, for Moses to have spoken to the Lord face to face. But even more special for Joshua who ‘happened’ to be present for that very special meeting with the Lord. I suspect that Joshua decided that if even a fraction of God’s glory could rest upon him, he’d have it.
