Blessings one and all

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:41 NLT

I believe that both Elizabeth and the baby were celebrating. And little wonder. Remember her story?

At least half a century of emptiness. It mattered little prior to her marriage, but can you imagine the pain, the shame, the disappointment, the embarrassment Elizabeth experienced year after year when she didn’t conceive.

As we celebrate motherhood, let us consider those who are struggling to care for the children in their charge; those who have had to walk away from their child(ren) for whatever reason; those whose children never made it to the light of day or preceded them in death, those who have fostered or adopted (officially or unofficially) or been surrogates to others. Let us also remember the children who’ve lost their mothers to illness, age, drugs, mental issues or death.

In the midst of joy and celebrating children, let us also be aware of those whose hearts are downcast or who chose not to mother. Most of all, let us celebrate God’s gift of Life in each of us which affords us the opportunity to celebrate.

Blessings to all who mother. Thank you and God bless!

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
