Today’s Holy Nougat
is somewhat like a personal introspection with which I hope you can resonate.
“Whatever we build on this foundation will be tested by fire on the day of judgment. Then everyone will find out if we have used gold, silver, and precious stones, or wood, hay, and straw. We will be rewarded if our building is left standing.” 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 CEV
Testing
Testing – Lord You know if don’t even like the word. Yet, it is a very real aspect of our relationship. I don’t like it because I fear I’ll be weighed in the balance and found wanting (Daniel 5:24-38). And I would rather not fail You yet again. For it sure ‘nuff feels like a hamster wheel of letting You down.
Yet, it is imperative that I’m tested; so I can discern what needs to be done asap to get back on track with You. The thing is though Abba, we humans often feel that You are testing us to discern where we are with You. As if we don’t realize that You already know what is going on with us and what will happen next. So that means the ‘test’ is for us, not You. These tests help us to see where we are, and even what’s going right, it’s not always wrong. Hmmn
So now I’m hearing ‘Testing, testing 1-2-3!’, just like a mic check. I pray that that test doesn’t realize a screech, pointing out that I am on the wrong frequency. I also pray that there isn’t silence, indicating that I’m plugged in but not turned on. For Lord, it’s not hard to mistakenly jump into roles that are exclusively Yours, in so doing, leave You out of the process. I pray dear Lord that when the testing takes place, You are amplified through me; for that’s what You desire of me. And, lest I get swell-headed, remind me each of us is asked to amplify You (Matthew 5:16).
So change my attitude to the test, may I look forward to the learning, the growing, the stretching. And regardless of the outcome, may I first turn to You and give You glory for the opportunity to know, open to Your guidance to improve my service to You.
I love You
Lord, thanks for loving me enough for the test; thanks for upholding me through the test. Be glorified in me through the test, amen
