Yesterday, I found myself thinking about whether loving our neighbour includes family and friends. Would you belive God sent me a quick and clear answer? Consider Today’s Holy Nougat
John 13:34 NLT
[34] So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
Love Each Other
LEO. Just like that. That’s the Word of God to me. Love each other … just as Christ loves us.
Whoa now.
That’s even more intense than oy.
To love as Christ loves includes knowing the stupid things the other person says and does, but choosing to love them despite. It includes loving past the embarrassing moments, the sibling rivalry, the pranks, all that.
Self-Check
Who are the ‘each other’s’ whom we’d rather not love?
Application
Family doesn’t always mean the biological folks. Those disciples had siblings amongst them, but they were all family.
Even Judas.
It must have been hard for them to accept that it was Judas who had betrayed Y’shua. He was their own. He was family.
Can you imagine being asked to love Judas?
The answer to our self-check tells us who we’ve got to work on loving some more. Because most times, family and friends are all we’ve got. Especially when the rest of the world cries out for our crucifixion. Or when the bottom falls out from our world due to debt, death, divorce, disaster, or disability. They are the ones who hold us up.
