Hello, how are you today?

Today’s reflection, May 12

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov 1:5

It all begins with God. Isn’t that something? For everything that really matters, God is there in the center of it all.

Although referred to as fear in English, the Hebrew actually carries the context of reverence. So knowledge begins with respectful adoration of the One who created me. That feels akin to the concept of a baby’s instinctive leaning towards the mother, wailing on departure from the womb. I’m told that disciples of old were somewhat worshipful of their teachers, seeking to grasp the depth of knowledge from their teachers, whom they referred to as ‘Master’, ‘Lord’, ‘Rabbi’, or even ‘sensei’; depending on the context.

So, recognizing God as my Creator, as my spiritual and emotional and mental source of knowing, I instinctively (CHOOSE) seeking God with reverential worship, as a disciple folliws the sensei in a quest for knowledge. Speak to my spirit please Lord, I am yearning for you.
