Nougat 12

Have you ever stopped to think about the awesome miracles of God and further reflecting on our humanity? Perhaps today’s Holy Nougat is yours.

“They were struck with awe and said to one another, “Who is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!”” Mark‬ ‭4:41‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Even the wind and the sea obey; but what about us?

Isn’t it a bit ironic that humans are the ones said to carry God’s DNA; yet by and large we are the most willful? Just think, we second-guess (sometimes even third, fourth and fifth-guess) God, and often with no real justification. I am sure that each of us can identify at least once in our recent memory when we disobeyed God’s directive.

And I am not for one second denying our justification for disobedience. I know that when I sin, I can usually find every logical reason why. But Christ calls us to more, to move beyond logic. For our God often defies. Just think; of the millions of spermatozoon cells that could have connected; the one that came through to create each of us did. And the rest is mystery.

More critically, we know that God is with us in all our storms; despite our shortcomings and even when it seems otherwise. What if we were to act like we knew God is with us amidst our every situation? Would we be more prone to obey? Would we begin speaking to our storms and mountains. Or would we continue to operate in fear?

Sometimes we are to speak to the storms. Or we sit out the storms. We may even have to endure the storms. Regardless, we are still needing to tell the storm that we are NOT afraid. Can we imagine the difference that would be?

The same applies to the temptations we face. We have what it takes WITHIN us to withstand Temptation. Thanks to the Spirit of God dwelling within, we can overcome. Oh yes we can. (Sometimes I feel as though God’s DNA is activated by the Spirit of God. Hmmm, I hafta research that one for me). If we carry God’s DNA, and God’s Spirit is within us, then truly we are equipped to walk away (or run) from temptation. Because God speaks to, with, for and/or through us always. We truly can obey God always.

The question is – will we?
