Often when chatting with family and close friends, we have a prolonged parting. I’m often guilty of saying something like, ’I know we have to disconnect now, but …”; and the call resumes for another wee bit. When this happens, what follows is often very impactful. Today’s Holy Nougat reminds me of such a moment.
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT
God’s messenger has a very important thing to say to us. And it’s up to us to decide whether we can afford to take the time to listen. Of coarse, God’s messenger is not God, and does not always meet our expectations. So we have to discern what we do – listen or ignore the message.
Additionally, it’s a one more thing moment and we will also have to consider whether we have all we need to guide our walk from the words prior. In this instance, those words were centered around keeping the peace, especially within the fellowship.
(So if we are currently grappling with our issues, are we even interested to hear the messenger, who might be a source of encouragement or reprimand?)
As we move towards our decision, may we remind ourselves that the messenger offers words inspired by God. Are we ready to hear from God?
