Today’s Holy Nougat
is one of those that invites deep reflection about life; on our life on earth, on our life journey with Jesus and our plans for eternal life. I am only starting the process, the rest is up to each of us.
“This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent.” John 17:3 CEB
Do we have eternal life?!
Siblings, I could stop with just that one question and it would be food for thought.
In answering the question, I urge us to first pause, tune out as much of the world as possible, and listen for God’s voice. What is God saying to us individually today? What have we missed, what pleases God, what would God have us do?
In Jesus’ high priestly prayer, His words are directed to God on behalf of those God entrusted to Him. And there, nestled in His prayer is the formula for eternal life – to know God,
– to understand God’s supremacy and
– to know Jesus was sent by the Supreme God to grant access to eternal life.
So we pause again
This time we ask ourselves how well do we know God. Is our knowledge of God pushing us to obedience? To listen to God’s voice and to act on the voice?
In recognition of God’s supremacy, do we place God’s desire above our own? Or is it among the many things that are on our list of things to do after we’ve met our own priorities? Acknowledging God’s supremacy also means submission of our lives to God’s. Hmmn
And it also means that we recognize Jesus Christ as the Son of God. In so doing, we will also yield to Him; recognizing that had it not been for Jesus, our citizenship in Heaven is not guaranteed.
What does yielding to God’s Spirit and God’s sovereignty look like? How does this manifest in our daily lives, in our relationships, at work, study, play? Does this influence how we relate with family and friends? What about our foes – any room for them in our yielding to God?
Listen just once more
Listen keenly
What is God’s word in this season? How does it affect our day’s activities?
May we find ongoing desire for God in God’s sovereignty.

May all we seek be found in Christ
