When a situation is prolonged and we can’t see the way out, we often feel that we need some kind of assurance that God’s with us. Consider Today’s Holly Nougat
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Peaceful Assurance
Persistent intercession ends when God’s peace pervades our being. Whatever we are facing is old news to God. If we’re among those who hold to the premise that God is eternal and omniscient, then we also believe that God is already at our future. And, if God’s already at the Future – particularly, in our future; then we have the assurance that God is also at the end of this situation. That should bring us peace.
Of course, there’s the possibility that while we’re going through, we might wonder why God allowed us to undergo without intervening. For that, I have no pat answers. As one recovering from long term grief, and who has accompanied others on life’s journeys, it isn’t always easy to suggest that the challenges foster growth. I am confident there are other ways we could have grown. Usually, when we’ve gotten in the other side of the circumstances we can see the logic; but sometimes, we seriously have to trust God and the process.
What I do commend to us however, is the assurance that as we pray, God’s peace confirms that it is under God’s control. Despite the grief, I assure you all that My God comes through Every Single Time – no exceptions. Not always with the solutions I expected or wanted, but God always has The Perfect Solution.
It also means that if God’s Peace is our guarantee that all is under control, then we don’t have to be beholden to others. This is in particular reference to those times when we feel that we must always look to X person for solutions. But that person isn’t God, not by a long shot! And even if they were under God’s leading to help with Y situation in the past, they might not be God’s plan for the current situation. So we focus on our Source, Solution, and our Intercessor: Jesus Christ. He’s a guaranteed game changer and is at Gods side, working things out.
Petition, Praying, Praise – Peace! That’s a winning approach to overcome in our seasons.
