Nougat 12

Published on

Hey there

What is the cost of worship? Are we prepared to pray the price? Consider today’s Holy Nougat for a moment

“Some of those at the table were indignant. “Why waste such expensive perfume?” they asked.” Mark 14:4 NLT

First fruit sacrificial gift. Based on her seemingly outcast statu, ‘her kind’ may not have enjoyed welcome at the temple. That didn’t prevent her from lavishing her gift on Christ.

Expensive nard. (A designer scent can start at 3-digit values for 2 oz. bottle in Geneva these days). In fact, it may have been her life savings. For her, Jesus was worth it. The principle of First Fruits sees the giver offering a special gift (often the total paycheck, first crop) in recognition of Who God is to us. Usually it’s very valuable, like expensive nard.

Perhaps people might scoff. It is par for the course. But inasmuch as that woman was resolute in worship; so might we. What is the Messiah worth to us? Everything, including the criticism of onlookers, or Everything, within bounds (reason)?

Are we ready to offer our first fruits to the Messiah?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
