Hello
It’s funny the things we take for granted. Recently, I noted the discourtesy of a bell-man towards a guest. And, while it is his paid job, it got me thinking about the loads we carry and our tacit understanding that when we travel with the pin through to the anchor, someone is assigned to lug the pieces around.
But some things are ours to carry eh, no one else can.

And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27 NLT
I have known in theory and confirmed through my own experience that the very act of carrying our own cross IS one element of our discipleship training. Paul’s may have been the thorn, others seem to manifest in different ways, but there remains an element of our walk which is ours to journey alone.
Others might cover us in prayer, but the very journey with our cross CANNOT be relegated to a spiritual bell-man. It’s a part of our calling. No job exists for such a role. So we prayerfully take our individual cross, mind our own crosses, and humbly follow Jesus.
