“May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭GW‬‬

Some of us were left at a crossroad yesterday as we were challenged to opt for God and not money as the Source of our being. For, when life gets in our way, it is easy to see what we think money can do. And in the natural realm, that may be what we see.

But should we even get a glimpse of what else is happening; we can see God at work; even in the worst of times. And for us to see beyond the visible realm, we need a bit of help – the Spirit of God. It is God’s Spirit Who equips us with Joy in the face of Adversity, and defiant Peace in the midst of fiery trials.

And they will come!

In every shape and size; from foes, family and friends; at work, play or even during worship; trials, frustrations and disappointments will arise. And when they come it is may seem much easier to give up or give in. Strangely enough, often it is at those times that we are able to see a bit of Heaven on Earth.

Someone calls us with a prayer, an encouraging word, a practical solution or even a way out. God intervenes even more directly through God’s Spirit and we literally feel the anxiety dissipate. We find ourselves at peace (or even hear God’s voice speaking peace into our situations), and we realize beyond the shadow of a doubt that it shall be well.

For it shall – and I say that to and for myself as well as you who reads this right now. By God’s grace, whate’er it is, we are already overcomers. And that’s the difference God’s Spirit makes. For God’s Spirit bears testimony of God; the God Who never leaves, never forsakes, Who is with us and yet already beyond this current moment.

That’s where we find Hope.

When we live with the Spirit, we have the blessed assurance of knowing that God is past our Meh moment; and already turning it into something amazing.

If you have been bogged down by Stuff, like I have been, might I recommend that we

Empty ourselves – of the junk with our confession. Let’s tell God right now what bothers us.

Cleanse ourselves – seeking forgiveness for not allowing God to be in control and letting go of the negativity trying to attach itself to us.

Renew ourselves – by remembering ALL God has done in the past, assuring ourselves that God has not changed.

Release ourselves – into God’s care and keep once more, inviting God’s Spirit to take control in our every situation.

Fill ourselves – with the Hope, Joy and Peace that comes from God’s Spirit and God’s Word dwelling in us richly.

I pray that we will be renewed and filled today and always, amen.

May all we seek be found in Christ
