Nougat 11

We’ve all heard about guarding our tongues, and often that feels like individuals being overbearing. But what do we learn from Scripture? Consider Today’s Holly Nougat

“so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Valuing God’s Word

Perhaps we have bought into the notion that our words carry no weight, they’re retractable. If that describes any of us, I pray our Nougat may have encouraged us to think twice. Even more than that is my theory that our attitudes to our own words, and of others sets the tone for our expectation of God’s Word. If you’re one such person, it is my prayer that just the very first glance of the Nougat has begun to challenge such.

Let’s gather a little bit of evidence to support my claim before interrogating the text. Our witness is El Elohim, Who was present before it all began. The narrative (word) in the Hebrew Scriptures begins Elohim created in the beginning, placing God at the locus of the creative process. And there as God’s Spirit hovered in anticipation, God spoke. And at the sound of God’s voice, Creation created. (see Genesis 1:1-3)

Aside from the very Trinitarian Presence, where we see Elohim, Ruach, and Word engaged in the Act of Creation; we recognize that until God spoke (called forth life into the words), nothing happened. It is as God spoke that images, imagination and reality were birthed.

Throughout the entire Birth of Creation, it was whatever God spoke that became reality (see chapters 1-2). This is the first proof of the potency of God’s Word. As God spoke, it happened. God had no uncertainty about the outcome. For God knew that God’s words Would Do As Intended, just like that.

Given the Track Record established at Creation it is my hope that we’re convicted of how potent God’s Word is. If not, we are welcome to invite God to help us experience the value and strength of God’s Word. And while we wait, may we also be reminded of God’s power manifested at some point in our own lives.
