Hi

Dunn’s River Falls, Jamaica; is a lush natural waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Of the eight rivers that converge into the Caribbean Sea in that vicinity; it’s the only one that I know which has a naturally navigable waterfall. Now that it has become so touristy; there are some human enhancements (to prevent slipping on the rocks and subsequent lawsuits).

One may climb alone, but the best experience for me was joining a group, forming the human chain – led by our experienced guide – up the waterfall; especially as a first-timer. For, although the descent to the base of the waterfall offers glimpses of the journey; it doesn’t show where the jutting rocks are, the natural dips create pools in the rock face under the surface and which spots are better left for experienced climbers who also know the waterfall.

And that’s reminiscent of our walk with God. We sometimes get glimpses of the journey we are yet to pass through. But we don’t always have a clue on where to go. Other times, we think we know exactly where we wish to get to (the top of the waterfall), but we need direction. For the straightforward route which we can predict has jutting rocks and natural dips which are unexpected.

Today’s Holy Nougat reminds us that this is a journey we don’t need to navigate alone. Whether or not we join a group; the Lord is always available –

“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalms 32:8 NLT

Are we ready to trust God enough to be our Guide?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
