Greetings my dears
Forgive me if I seem to ignore the news, but sometimes it’s hard to discern where I wish to focus … rumors of war; actual wars, violence, death, etc. I choose Life. Abundant Life which transforms and renews. But it’s not through my own power. Not at all.
How do you discern your way forward? Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.
2 Chronicles 7:16 NLT
Perhaps it was this promise which caused Hezekiah to be rash in his choices; affording the Babylonian delegation full access to God’s holy place; and this resulted in its desecration and eventual destruction. For one would think that if God’s protective hand was upon the temple how did it get destroyed not once but TWICE without God’s apparent intervention?
And, on one level I have no response. But what if the temple referred BOTH to the physical building and the spiritual location? Remember Jesus’ cryptic comment – “destroy this temple and I’ll raise it up in three days” – where he was actually speaking of his mortal body? Or the Pauline (i.e. of Paul) admonition that our bodies are the temple of the Lord our Living God? What if the Promise to Solomon included those understanding of the temple?
Could it be that God has chosen each of us; has set us apart to be Holy; so that God’s name might be honored forever through our lives; and moreso, that God would forever watch over each of us – simply because we’re dear to God’s heart?
Honestly, I am not certain that that was what the Nougat implied. But the more I think of it and about how special God treats me, the more convinced I am that we’re each of us included in that promise. And if we are; that’s some hallelujah blessings to set us dancing.
To God be the glory, many blessings have been won! That’s why I’m choosing Life. Abundant Life.
Thanks for joining us in this Divine feast.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
