Blessed day to you

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

“Caesar’s,” they replied. “Well, then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” Matthew 22:21 NLT

What then belongs to God? One could argue that since God’s imprint is not on our currency, we should not return to God our tithes and offerings. But I’d refute that by reminding us of Psalm 24.1 which states, the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof … It stands to reason that we pay tribute to God through our tithes.

It further dawned on me that God’s imprint is on each of us (Genesis 1:26 – 28). Thus, Christ is also saying that we ought to give ourselves as living sacrifices to God. If we become the tithe that is returned to God, then we ought to give our best self. Our best self is still unworthy of being in God’s presence on our own … But in Christ, we become better than our natural best selves; hence the sacrifice and the subsequent worthiness.

So, what do we give to God today? No matter how few resources we have materially, we can always give ourselves – if we wish to. I guarantee, that’s good return on our investment.

Thanks for joining us in this Divine feast.

In Christ
