Have you ever lived a protected life and taken it for granted? Moreover, only just realized what it is that you’ve had after it was too late?
Then perhaps you might be inclined to offer Adam and Eve just a little compassion. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. Genesis 3:7 NLT
Imagine that moment after they ate the fruit and gained a real understanding of life. It is possible that life was now marked by Before and After the fruit. Considering we’re advised of the sense of shame which overwhelmed them, it is reasonable to presume that they might have had some “If Only” moments. Moreover, when they reflected on their situation, it was incumbent upon them to take corrective action. And the world’s first fashion designers were established.
BUT,
they were still outside of God’s favor. An extended read of Genesis 3 reveals that skins provided the much-needed coverage for the pair.
Hence we realize that truly NOTHING we do can cleanse us from our unrighteousness.
What about us? What happens when we initiate our own rebellions, resulting in our being exposed? What happens when we finally come to terms with or nakedness and impotence? Do we experience fear or shame? Do we cry out the One who is able to provide coverage for or nakedness and solicit help in returning “to Eden”?
My dears, let us try to remain in God’s favor for our own sakes.
Thanks for joining in this Divine feast
