Hello
How are you? Did you accept Christ’s invite yesterday? It was refreshing, nuts it was.
Here’s today’s nougat
Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5.4
A friend shared a sermon which focused on this verse recently. I was struck by a simple, yet profound truth. The pastor spoke about moving forward after a crisis, and established a truism…one should only expect comfort if one mourns a crisis.
But I’d like to take that truism a bit further – the fact is, the world teaches us not to mourn. For, you know … tears are a sign of weakness. Subsequently, many of us are uncomfortable around those who mourn and we scarcely permit ourselves the luxury of mourning. Because strong people maintain a stiff upper lip. And depend on all sorts of medication to address the denied/suppressed pain.
Yea right!
We don’t often realize that were living a lie or that we’re going against God’s word, which legitimizes mourning and offers comfort and rest in return. So why do we allow ourselves to slowly poison our systems by ideying pain?
Let us mourn for a season, so that we might come rejoicing …
Hold on my dears, joy comes in the morning
Weeping only lasts for the night
Time for a paradigm shift.
In Christ’s love and grace
