Nougat 10

A promise is a comfort to a fool they say. So are we foolish to believe today’s Holy Nougat?

“When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

After wading through the pain of life’s journeys to the Hope that is Christ Jesus; it is assuring to note that we matter. He said so Himself. He wants us to be where He is. In His Father’s house. Heaven. In Paradise. When He returns.

Those words were about His death and resurrection; but could easily refer to His triumphant return. For me, it is a word of Hope. Things might not be as they ought right now, Heaven’s mansions may not be open for full occupancy, but we can plan on one thing: He returned the first time. He will come again.

And that resurrection return was proof of something else too. As great and amazing as Heaven is, it’s not quite enough for Jesus until we join Him there. It matters in the scheme of ‘get rich and switch’ mentality, which prioritizes one’s new and upgraded lifestyle and ‘friendships’ over the old ways. Again, Jesus has proven (twice, actually) that that’s not what He’s about.

He came: from Heaven to Earth; slumming it so to speak (with a step down from mansions in His home to a vagabond lifestyle)

He taught: beyond theories, theorems and theology; confounding the wise and connecting with the ‘foolish’

He loved: the least, lost and lowest (not only the poorest)

He died: falsely executed, yet bearing the shame; loving and teaching even from the Cross, extending grace to one and all

He lived again: conquering Death, proof of God’s integrity – God will do what God says – if we choose to believe

He ascended: to finalize preparations for when we get to join Him: oh what joy that will be

Those factors establish a pattern of consistency that we can trust; a blessed assurance when the world is as it is. And that’s why we believe when He says-

He will come again: having been here and done all, Jesus is God’s earnest (that is, God’s guarantee) that mansions are being customized for us (see Ephesians 1:14).

There’s one thing remaining: Do we believe?
